Regarding the Unavailability of iPhone Applications that Use PlaceEngine

http://www.koozyt.com/

On March 4, 2010, the following iPhone applications became unavailable at the App Store (users who previously downloaded these applications can still continue to use them).

By using wireless LAN signals, PlaceEngine provides a way to estimate location in indoor and underground situations where it might be difficult for GPS to provide a fix. PlaceEngine uses ESSID, BSSID, RSSI information of nearby wireless LAN access points to estimate location.

Due to the App Store review process regarding the use of wireless LAN information, the applications listed above became unavailable.

We are in the process of requesting the parties involved whose applications were affected to re-release their applications without incorporating PlaceEngine.

We sincerely apologize to users who were planning to download these applications.

PlaceEngine can support fine grained location fixes for indoor venues such as shopping centers, museums, and convention centers and makes it possible to enhance the user experience of location based applications and augmented reality (AR) applications in new ways. PlaceEngine can complement the standard location fix mechanism available on the iPhoneOS, and we like to feel that we are contributing somewhat to further increase the appeal of Apple's mobile devices.

At Koozyt, we will strive to appeal the potential of PlaceEngine and applications that use PlaceEngine. At the same time, we will make every effort to officially obtain permission to use the wireless LAN information needed for PlaceEngine.

We deeply apologize to everyone involved for the inconvenience caused. Your continued support is greatly appreciated.
